Kevin Ferguson walked into the Solomon P. Ortiz Center on Wednesday, and poked his head through a black curtain.

Even if you didn't know that Ferguson is better known as Kimbo Slice, you could tell the head poking through curtain belonged to someone of acclaim just by the way the heads in the ballroom whipped around to eye the newcomer.

Of course, it's hard to be inconspicuous when you stand 6-foot-2, 235 pounds, sport an untamed beard and a bald top of the head framed by horizontal cornrows around the edges. The hefty-looking gold fist hanging around the gold chain on his neck only added to the entrance, as did his manager Mike Imber's T-shirt that featured a grainy photo of Kimbo with the bold letters "GIVE ME MY BREAD" printed across the bottom.

His birth certificate may say Kevin Ferguson, but now he's Kimbo Slice, and he's making his professional mixed martial arts debut with EliteXC on Saturday at the American Bank Center.
